Pakistan Help was founded in July 2005. We are a non-profit organisation registered in Braunschweig, Germany. Instead of concentrating our help on a selected few, we want to help society as a whole. The help is based on introducing new ideas. The projects launched plant the developing seed, the rest is done by the poor people themselves. For more information click here. Every cent given to us will be spent in Pakistan. That is: As long as possible we try to cover all administration costs ourselves. Staff members in Pakistan are paid according the norm. All work in Europe is done voluntarily. We want to help in the following fields: Health, access to clean water, introducing new technologies. For more details click here. Pakistan Help is a politically and religiously independent organisation.
The Founders of Pakistan Help:
As a small child Rashid moved from Pakistan to Switzerland. The big differences marked him strongly. While growing up he began to plan how these differences could be reduced - how to bring development to Pakistan. At the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) Rashid met Georg. One year later they went on a three month journey to Pakistan. This gave Georg the chance to discover the beautiful as well as the foul sides of the country. Once back in Europe they decided to help the people in need. At the beginning it consisted solely of paying children's school fees. Two years later they founded Pakistan Help.
Our motivation: All around Pakistan Rashid and Georg heard of the effects of ongoing humanitarian efforts. As there are numerous active organisations in Pakistan, news and stories are omnipresent. Some help was very successful, often enough, however, it was misguided and finally ended up as money in the pocket of the rich. They believed: The only way to be sure, that their money did actually help the poor as much as it could, was to organise the help themselves. For a summary of Pakistan Help's goals click here.
